(Bereaved) Father's Day

   To my wonderful husband,

Even though the girls meant you had to do even more work than just going to work, you never thought twice about doing it. You had to stand with me in the bathroom while I showered, to make sure I didn't pass out. You cooked every meal, and even meal prepped for me, since I couldn't stand long enough to cook without getting sick. (By the way, this is a part of morning sickness people often don't tell you about. You have been warned.) You stopped at the store on the way home to get me a new gallon of chocolate ice cream. There wasn't a thing you weren't willing to do for us. And when the time came for someone to step up, you stepped up and gave our 9.2oz, 8.5" daughter cpr without a second thought. You were willing to do anything that your daughters needed you to do for them. Always.

A father is not measured by the amount of DNA he provided to make the child, but how much love and devotion he puts into his relationship with his child. When I think back to the moment when I looked over and saw you holding Fiona in one hand and Eliza in the other, I don't remember seeing your sadness. Not that I didn't see your sadness, but I could see how much love you had for these two tiny human beings, and how all of that intense love was being turned into an intense heart break.

You just kind of assume that once you find your soul mate, all of the heart breaks are over. You never imagine looking over at your husband staring down at two pieces of his heart, while the part he's got left is struggling to keep beating. You are an amazing man, a wonderful husband, and a perfect dad. I know it's weird to hear Happy Fathers Day, but you deserve it more than anyone I know.

I love you so much♥♥

For those of you who are struggling with fathers day today, grieving over a lost child, Happy Fathers Day♥
